Local Authority (LA) Hubs of effective practice in SEN are an important element in Government's strategy to improve outcomes for children with SEN and disabilities.

Somerset has been selected as the SW coordination authority - there are 10 Hubs nationally. A map showing the geographical area of the SW Hub can be downloaded by clicking here.

The Hub runs from 2008 - 2011.

There will be feedback from Hub LAs and the LAs working with them in their region. In this way the Hubs will be used to inform the national policy and programmes.

Hub work will also complement the National Strategies SEN advisers' work supporting individual LAs.

The model has the potential to link the challenges faced by individual LAs to national and regional initiatives in direct ways.
